Persephone, the Perfume
I’m quite thrilled to present Persephone, the perfume for Mabon. She is woodsy, sweet, cozy, and full of autumn goddess magick.
This scent started with Persephone and Pomegranate. The Eleusinian Mysteries tells the story of Persephone. How she became the Queen of the Underworld after eating 6 Pomegranate seeds from Hades.
These seeds tied her to the underworld for 6 months of the year starting at the Autumn Equinox. Her mother Demeter grieves her absence and the world goes dark and nothing grows. But Persephone comes back every Spring Equinox, and her mother allows the world to bloom again with happiness.
Having a place in both worlds makes Persephone the perfect goddess for the Equinoxes, when balance is celebrated and experienced. To further honor her, I’ve added some of her other associations: the sweetness of Vanilla, Rosemary as a door to the darker half of the year, and Red Jasper for balance in life and grounding autumn energy.
To honor Mabon, there’s the earthy presence of Patchouli that helps us act with confidence during times of transition. It helps us balance the energies of sacrifice and gratitude. There’s fall magick in Sage, which is used to consecrate sacred spaces and moments.
Lastly, and perhaps one of my favorite little details, is Grapevine. Grape brings the energy of prosperity and good times, which feels like a beautiful balance to the darker times. I feel like they offer this “something to hold on to” energy, which is a comfort moving into this time of year.
Persephone, the Perfume is a balance of autumn and goddess magick.
