Kinnikinnick Ritual Smokes are entirely wild-harvested from what is native to my area and representative of what the First Nations harvested for rituals and sacred ceremonies. It feels so connected, heavy even, in that way when you realize a moment is about to occur and you should be in stillness with it.

Even though this blend does have a calming effect like my Peace & Love Smokes, the energy of it feels very different. The Peace & Love Smokes have a lightness and joyful calm to them. The Kinnikinnick Ritual Smokes have a decidedly more reverent energy. These should be used in searching times, during a meditation, or ritual.

The base of this blend is fluffy, beneficial Mullein which aids in lung health and has powerful protective energy. Bearberry, also known as Uva Ursi and Kinnikinnick for its prevalent use in these mixes, cleanses and purifies the air around you. Red Willow, also known as Red Twig Dogwood, was believed to carry your prayers on the wind to all four directions.

Sumac brings a tart body to the smoke and offers the energy of fire while bringing harmony to any situation. Cornflowers represented renewal and new life to the ancient Egyptians. Magically they have been used in divination and deep dives into your inner world during truth seeking rituals.

Kinnikinnick was my introduction to the herbal smoke world. I read about this traditional blend in a history book and just knew I had to make it. It was years later that we moved to Michigan and I was able to find all the ingredients wild. It’s one of those things that I feel honored to work with.
