Hex Breaker for Detaching. Black Tourmaline, Palo Santo, & Frankincense Tears

Hex Breaker with Palo Santo, Mint, Rosemary, Black Tourmaline, and eight Frankincense tears.

Most of the time I craft from a place of exploring and playing around with things, to see what speaks or surfaces in my brain. But sometimes, I come across a recipe, or spell in this matter, and I just know it will be the thing needed. Like I can already taste it or smell it or feel it.

This potion was one of those things. I came across a detachment spell, a hex breaker spell, and was like, this is it.

For when you need to detach, let go, move on, and rid yourself of the residual energy hanging around.

Palo Santo is used for cleansing and purifying. Healers from South America, where this “holy wood” grows, believe that it has a spirit that should be respected. The spirit lives on in the wood, and if treated properly, it will help you in your healing.

Rosemary is a sacred herb used to purify spaces before ritual. It is the remembrance herb, which helps when recalling dreams and visions, and when connecting with our ancestors. Not only is Mint notoriously calming to the body, it is also used to induce prophetic dreams and to protect against nightmares and negative energy.

Black Tourmaline is perfection to work with at Samhain and all the things the season surfaces. Black Tourmaline offers grounding energy, mighty protection, and an opening up to the truth of the situation.

This spell called for 8 Frankincense tears and that felt important. 8 turns of The Wheel, after all. Frankincense has been used for millennia to purify and dispel negative energy. It brings us into a moment of reverence, enabling deep connection. And I just love the alchemy that is taking place in the bottle as that wonderful resin starts to become a part of the spell!
