Sun & Shade Spice
In honor of the sun, abundance, fire, gathering and grilling, I’m pleased to share my Sun & Shade Spice!
Sprinkling these plants over my dishes is a pause where I remember and relish in how fortunate I am to have food that nourishes me and plants that heal and bring me to life. It’s an instant of gratitude for finding myself on the path I am on and pleasure in the plants that I’ve found along the way.
It’s perfectly pungent with shade-loving and wild-harvested Garlic Mustard and ethically-harvested Ramp leaves.
It’s delightfully herbal with sun-loving homegrown Bee Balm leaves and petals, Oregano flowers, Rosemary, Purple Basil, and three kinds of Thyme.
This spice is an all-purpose seasoning for chicken, beef, lamb, fish, hummus, vegetables, olive oil marinades, anything really! I sprinkle this fragrant blend on top of everything truthfully. It’s a hands on, green witch way to connect with your food, especially when you don’t feel like cooking.
The blend is a mix of sunny homegrown herbs like Purple Basil, Rosemary, Oregano flowers, three kinds of Thyme, and few different kinds of Bee Balm as well. To it, I’ve added this spring’s shady wonders of Garlic Mustard and Ramp leaves. The scent is intoxicating!
