Brighid’s Balm: Nurture & Hope

Brighid’s Balm nurtures and offers hope. The ritual balm for this turn uses one of the floral associations of Imbolc, Chamomile. Chamomile is celebrated at Imbolc for its feminine energy, echoed throughout the season through Brighid’s influence. It is a tender plant that reminds us of the sun’s energy that is already on its way back to us, bringing hope with each use.

This luscious apple-musk, floral-earth wonderfulness was made with my very own sweet apple-scented Roman Chamomile blooms and leaves, as well as, my own Helichrysum. Chamomile of course is a soothing ally for the whole body. It relaxes nerves and restlessness. It’s antiseptic, making it excellent for injuries and wounds. It’s also anti-inflammatory bringing the body back to a state of balance and calm.

Personally, I use this balm at night. I light a candle, have my bath, and then rub it into my warm skin. It truly has helped calm my body down and prepare me for rest and ritual. Both Chamomile and Helichrysum bring a tranquil energy that help us with old emotions and opening our hearts to new spiritual experiences.

What’s a ritual balm? Of course you can use any of my balms for skin healing, nourishing, and protection. But they have also been crafted to be used in ritual. Apply your balm before quiet times, after bathing, or before rituals to prepare yourself for the moment and invite in that specific energy. You can also use the balms to anoint candles and apply herbs, just like you would a consecrating oil.
