Aegis Balm for Protection and Skin Healing
Aegis Balm is back with homegrown, fresh and protective Bay leaf brewed into it and the rune for protection on top! Aegis is an old Greek word meaning “shield”. This balm offers magical protection, as well as, healing for the skin- with a real shield maiden sort of vibe.
I’ve benefited so much from the practice of using balms in ritual these past few years, that I’ve worked up a plan to have a ritual balm for each season moving forward. A balm that specifically works with the energy of that season. With Aegis being for Mabon.
This blend came to me while making Witch Balls for Ostara. I just knew it would be perfect support for the Autumn Equinox: balance from both Equinoxes.
Angelica helps with circulation and promotes healing of the skin, all while smelling yummy. Angelica is an ancient, powerful, and highly protective plant! It can be used as an amulet in protection magic.
Thyme has been used to fight off nightmares, negativity, plague, and fear for millennia! In fact, the ancient Egyptians used Thyme in their Rites of Passing and in ritual baths. The Greeks burned Thyme in their temples to purify them. It has also been used by witches to attract good health and it can be used in healing spells.
Oxeye Daisies have long been used medicinally and magically as far back as ancient Egypt. They are associated with Artemis (aka Diana), the goddess for women, the hunt, and all things wild.
Magically, they have been used to reignite old love affairs by placing them under your pillow. A sachet of blooms over your children’s beds are said to offer protection. They are a flower of long lasting love and friendship. They are antimicrobial, antifungal, anti inflammatory, and stunning.
Your tin is topped with a rune for protection.
What’s a ritual balm? Of course you can use any of my balms for skin healing, nourishing, and protection. But they have also been crafted to be used in ritual. Apply your balm before quiet times, after bathing, or before rituals to prepare yourself for the moment and invite in that specific energy. You can also use the balms to anoint candles and apply herbs, just like you would a consecrating oil.
